Congratulations to Borina Sutikto on her AJGA win

Borina Sutikto, a participant and volunteer with The First Tee of Silicon Valley, took first place in the Girls Division of the AJGA Preview at Meadowbrook Country Club on May 6th.  Sutikto went wire-to-wire on the final day of the tournament.  She began the morning with a six-stroke lead in the Girls Division and continued her dominate performance, finishing the tournament at 8-over-par 152.  Sutikto was quick to shift credit to her parents and The First Tee of Silicon Valley coaches saying “Without them this wouldn’t be as special”.

This first thing that came to my mind was Borina earned this victory. Borina is a shining example of a participant that consistently demonstrates perseverance. She is at the golf course almost every day intelligently working on her game. She has been this way for the past 6 years I’ve known her. I’m very proud of her for working hard towards her goals and reaping the rewards of delayed gratification. Coach Matt Sheppard, Program Manager, The First Tee of Silicon Valley

“I am so proud of Borina for setting her goals and consistently taking action to achieve them (goal ladder)!  She understands that even though we can’t control winning the tournament, we can control the actions and attitudes that put us in position to win.  Also, it is great to see her continue to grow her Go-To Team in support of her dreams on and off the golf course.  Way to go, Borina!!” Coach Colleen Henry, LPGA Member, The First Tee Master Coach & Golf Operations Manager – Rancho del Pueblo GC
