We need your support to fund our general operations to serve the youth in our community — hire and train additional coaches, purchase equipment, and pay golf courses for affordable access. Our First Tee chapter does not benefit from any PGA TOUR tournament revenue or receive general operation funding from the First Tee National. We rely on local funding to sustain our operations which is challenging in Silicon Valley where 90% of the corporate giving leaves the area for global relief or is directed to non-profits providing essential services.
Our program is a safe haven that provides structure, direction and intentional mentorship addressing the epidemic of high school dropout rates, aggressive antisocial behaviors and childhood obesity. We fill the opportunity gap for those youth experiencing challenges associated with poverty and ethnicity in a region with the nation’s second most diverse area. Silicon Valley/Santa Clara County is one of the wealthiest regions in the world but statistical averages mask troubling inequities. The high cost of living in Santa Clara County creates enormous challenges to make every child safe, healthy, successful in learning and successful in life. It is critical that we sustain our operation to serve an area that needs our positive youth development program to serve a population of 400,000 youth.
