Saved Sets for Our Students

Categories: 2014

The First Tee of Silicon Valley recognizes that there are cost barriers that make it playing golf challenging for some families. That’s why we provide free sets to any of our participants who require financial assistance. This is made possible through generous donations of clubs from the general public. Here’s what one club donor, Jeanette, said when she found out we would love to have her clubs,

FANTASTIC!  It makes me happy to know that they’ll go to someone who will really appreciate them.  When I was a kid, my parents struggled (unbeknownst to me) to pay for my sports, and sports taught me so much about how hard work reaps rewards, among other things.  Since I have no kids of my own, I try to do everything I can to help other kiddos in need.  This means so much.  🙂

The First Tee of Silicon Valley’s Coach Larry has a passion for this project of project of sorting clubs, making sets, finding bags, and finding deserving participants. He elaborates,

It is our goal to give kids a set of clubs they can be proud of. The club donation program presents a win, win, win opportunity. Donors (like Jeanette) receive gratification knowing their donation will be valued. Participants feel a great sense of pride and a renewed excitement for the game. And we, the coaches of The First Tee of Silicon Valley, know that providing clubs for participants increases their commitment to the program and will translate to an increased ability for us to mentor them. Helping them be the best they can be, that is what it is all about.
